Water, wetland and mountain meet beneath an expansive, cloud-filled sky in Swartvlei Mountains by Janet Botes. Working in digital collage, Botes layers photographic and painterly elements to create a landscape that feels both familiar and dreamlike. Cool blues and soft greens move through the distant mountains and water, while warmer ochre tones bring depth and texture to the marshy foreground.
The irregular edges and translucent passages give the scene the character of a memory slowly taking shape. A winding channel leads the eye into the landscape, towards the low mountain range on the horizon and the shifting light above it.
Created in 2026, this archival limited edition print is presented unframed on paper measuring 45 × 40 cm. Edition 1 of only 5, Swartvlei Mountains is available to order for R3,850 with a two-week lead time.
