    A man stands squarely towards the viewer, wearing a cap, pale shirt, blue-grey jeans and coat. Lisette Forsyth’s loose black, cream and muted blue marks give him a vivid presence against the tightly printed text beneath.
    
    The composition incorporates an aged 1886 page from The Cape of Good Hope Government Gazette, headed “Tembuland”. Its dense columns record surveyed plots, title deeds and land transactions. The individual overlaps this formal record, while fragments of its typography remain visible across his clothing and face. This meeting of human presence and historical documentation invites reflection on land, identity and the people behind official records.
    
    Tembuland is a limited-edition print on paper, numbered 1/5. The artwork measures 30 x 42 cm and is sold unframed.
