Deep blues and turquoise tones give 'Across The Bay' an atmosphere poised between day and night. Waves roll towards a pale stretch of sand, while distant mountains dissolve into mist across the water. Above them, a luminous moon hangs beneath a dramatic sky, creating a scene that feels recognisable yet dreamlike.
Janet Botes builds the coastal landscape through layers of photographic imagery, translucent colour and painterly marks. The square format holds the wide sweep of sea and sky in balance, while the work’s softly weathered edges add to the impression of a place recalled through memory rather than recorded exactly as it appeared.
Across The Bay is an archival pigment print on fine art paper, measuring 138 × 138 cm and sold unframed. Edition 1 of a limited edition of 5, it is available to order for R17,500, with a two-week lead time.
