Artist Description
Full title: 'Lion's Head Grey Misty Morning from Bakoven'
"Alice Toich and I met at Bakoven for our Wednesday Plein Air date, knowing that on an overcast day, it was sure to be beautiful. No wind, an ethereal sky and a calm sea. Even if I have painted at a spot many times, the excitement and allure of nature is that it will never be the same. Endless amounts to discover, and unending curiousity for this beautiful earth. My mind often wanders to thinking about little creatures that live on Beta Beach at Bakoven, and may never live anywhere else, or even see Camps Bay beach a few hundred metres away. For them, their whole world, and their whole experience of this world, is contained right there on that beach. And that I find so beautiful - everything contained, a whole world, a whole life and existence, in this one spot."
