You wouldn't expect to see someone dressed quite like this in the middle of a snow-covered mountain range.
In "Cloud Walker", Janna Prinsloo places a figure in a brilliant blue coat, orange trousers and oversized boots high above a snowy landscape. There's a tiny helicopter hovering in the distance, but our traveller seems happy to carry on walking, apparently unconcerned by the enormous mountains behind them.
The clothing is full of wonderful details, from the yellow spots on the coat to the futuristic-looking boots and goggles. Janna has painted the figure with such care, setting those bright colours against a mountain landscape worked in broad, energetic strokes of grey and white. Fine lines of red add another unexpected touch.
It's a wonderfully eccentric painting, with a sense of adventure and a little humour. You can't help wondering who this person is, where they're going and how on earth they got there!
