Artwork Description
A lone dog picks its way through a shallow stream, surrounded by a rugged landscape of rocks, scrub and trees. There's a wonderful sense of freedom in this small painting by Karen Wykerd, with the animal almost hidden among the many colours and textures of the landscape.
Loose, energetic brushstrokes bring the scene to life. Fresh greens and yellows sit alongside earthy pinks, ochres and deep blue shadows, while the rocky hillside rises towards a pale, sunlit sky. Karen has captured the feeling of being out in the South African countryside, where there's always something new to notice if you take the time to look.
'Freedom to Roam' is an original acrylic landscape painting on board, presented in a natural kiaat wood frame. At just 24 × 32 cm, it's a lovely choice for a smaller wall, a study or a carefully arranged collection of artworks.
