A work directly pointing at the relentless march of big brands into new territories and more specifically Amazon's arrival in South Africa. Within the work, we find references to Walmart, Amazon, McDonalds, KFC and the effect they have on local economies and the average Joe (plastic army guy). In the middle we find the African figure represented by the "domestic worker" with her head covering (KFC wrapper) still looking towards a brighter future ahead..
I use pop art references liberally in these works because I see a similarity in the way Pop Artists manipulated popular culture to march onto the art world. Very much like what these Big Brands are doing
