Still lives - Whimsy
This group of still lives are using objects that I have gathered from my past, many as far back as my childhood. Painting them is a way of processing, reflection, and understanding my process of growth. I feel very privileged as an artist to have such a wonderful means of navigating life.
I am a collector and squirrel away objects that tug on my emotions even if I have no use for them. As a child the penknife was gift from my parents and the smurfs were part of my collection which I kept on the windowsill above my childhood bed. The rest were objects I gathered along the way and kept due to their aesthetic and emotional tug.
