Artist Description
Artist Notes:
When I think of Penguin Books I think of the places their contents have taken me and the times when I read them. I also think of their covers and pages that have the weight that precious objects hold. Lastly I remember the sneezing that the aged pages cause after lifting them off the thrift shop shelves.
Although I have painted a number of the books I still want to explore the variety of colours that Penguin books used. Below are all the colours and their significance:
Orange - general fiction
Green - crime fiction
Cerise - travel and adventure
Dark blue - biographies
Yellow - miscellaneous
Red - drama
Purple - essays and belles letters
Grey - world affairs.
