Artist Description

Some of my fondest memories as a child were of story time, tucked up in bed, when my mother would read to me. Their stories and sometimes pictures have stayed with me and started my love for stories and the power of images. Many held wonderful literary value and were from the branch of Penguin books, Puffin Book publishers.
As an adult my love for books extends to their physical makeup, their aesthetic, their covers, the materials they are made of, the history they hold in their individual designs, the scars from previous readers and the publisher’s logos. Penguin Book paintings are ingrained in our society, they have become a meme holding a symbol of history, knowledge, sentiment and comfort. This series of Penguin paintings celebrate and explore the book theme and the value of stories to the individual.
