Artist Description
"I grew up in Hout Bay, so the Sentinel mountain is deeply entrenched in my memories and in my heart. It brings me so much joy to drive along Chapman's Peak and park somewhere along the route and paint the view of this mountain. It is different from every angle, and it transfixes me, how differently the peak appears depending on where you are standing. This morning it was absolutely still, and also very hot. I was quite alone on the road, near the "turnaround point" on Chapman's Peak, with only some little bugs to keep me company. I painted until it became too hot to remain, but luckily I'd had enough time to capture the feeling of the morning light on my mountain."
