Tender companions explores the human psyche and it's ability to love and nurture. The model I used is some one I have painted numerous times before and who's vulnerable reserve provides a very conducive form for such emotions. She has a dreamlike demeanor and constantly slips into a deeply internal state. She provided a perfect subject for an exhibition inspired by Alice in Wonderland and it's fanciful world.
