Artist Description
This work shows my continued interest in the manner in which animals are displaced and find means of adapting to habitations constructed by humanity. I selected the Scarlet Ibis purely for its aesthetic value. Its vivid plumage provides such a dramatic design element balancing against a very detailed still life below.
My obsession with detail and visual complexity is ever-present in the still life elements that have become an important subject matter to me. The emotional value of the mundane; so often overlooked in objects, runs deep, as most of humanity hold an object dear for most of their lives. When I select objects for a still life I am constantly searching for items that hold true to a memory or emotion of worth.
