A pale road stretches towards the horizon, cutting through a landscape of tangled branches, dry grasses and distant mountains. In Pad Na Verlange, Janet Botes uses the panoramic format to heighten the feeling of a journey, drawing the eye along the open road towards a point that remains just out of reach.
This digital collage artwork combines photographic detail with expressive, hand-worked marks. Earthy ochres, charcoal blacks and touches of rust sit beneath a cool turquoise sky, while the open white road brings light and space to the composition. The Afrikaans title, meaning “Road to Longing”, adds a tender emotional note to this expansive South African landscape.
Printed as an archival pigment print on paper, Pad Na Verlange measures 130 × 50 cm and is sold unframed. It is available to order for R14,000, with a two week lead time.
