    A young girl stands with her head bowed, her posture giving "Crocs" a quiet, inward quality. There is no elaborate setting or narrative to explain the moment; Pascale Chandler leaves the girl alone against the blank Yupo paper, allowing her stance to hold our attention.
    
    Loose washes of acrylic suggest her clothing and body, while darker marks bring definition to her hair and legs. On her feet, the familiar shape of a pair of Crocs adds an ordinary, contemporary detail to an otherwise tender and slightly enigmatic portrait.
