Artwork Description
A moth fills the centre of Gonimbrasia Belina, its wings spread wide to reveal their distinctive markings. Fine, searching lines describe the delicate wing structure, while deeper blacks give weight to the body and create a powerful symmetrical presence. Fragments of handwritten script surround the moth, adding another layer of visual detail to the monochrome composition.
Andie Rodwell’s use of stone lithography produces a rich variety of marks, from soft grainy tones to dense blacks and freely drawn lines. Printed on paper with deckled edges, the work retains the tactile qualities of an original print and is presented behind glass in a simple black frame.
This impression is numbered 3 from an edition of only 3. The framed dimensions are 54 x 45 cm, and the artwork is available for R6,750.
