Artwork Description
A dragonfly is suspended at the centre of In Transient, its four wings extending across the composition with remarkable delicacy. Fine etched lines trace the intricate network of veins, while repeated outlines suggest a flicker of movement around the otherwise precisely observed insect.
Andie Rodwell combines hard-ground etching with chine-collé, using a softly toned paper layer to distinguish the printed image from the larger white sheet beneath it. The monochrome palette places the emphasis on line, texture and the fragile structure of the wings. Generous areas of white space and the paper’s deckled edges give the work an understated, contemporary presence.
This impression is numbered 5/10 e.v. (edition variable). Subtle variations created during the hand-printing process make each impression slightly individual. The work is presented in a black frame, measures 54 x 45 cm framed and is priced at R6,750.
