Artist notes:
In the founding legends of Southern African cultures e.g. the Xhosa, there exists the great beyond, an ever receding realm inhabited by ancestors and beyond physical existence. I deploy clay sculpting in particular as a commemoration of my own disconnection from traditional culture and thus contact with the natural world.
