This is where you can find all events, news or updates related to our Gallery situated in Cape Town. The physical space is our base and where you can contact us day-to-day. As well as hosting exhibitions in the space we also have the StateoftheART Stockroom where interested clients can view artwork we hold on-site. Come and visit at 50 Buitenkant Street, Cape Town (corner of Roeland Street and Buitenkant Street, just next to the Book Lounge).
  • UPCOMING EXHIBITION: HEAVEN AND EARTH
    StateoftheART is delighted to announce the upcoming group exhibition titled Heaven and Earth, featuring the works of four remarkable female artists: Kristen McClarty, Catherine Ocholla, Laurel Holmes, and Karen Wykerd. This captivating exhibition of paintings and printmaking will be on display from 04 - 25 November 2023, at 50 Buitenkant Street in Cape Town.

    On 24 June 2023, StateoftheART hosted the opening reception of Joanna Lee Miller's debut solo exhibition ' Here I Find' featuring landscape paintings created on site around the Cape Peninsula.
  • Guerrilla MOSAIC Bomb by Spier Arts Trust
    A new mosaic artwork has been installed outside StateoftheART Gallery on Buitenkant Street. A public art project by Spier Arts Trust, the mosaic features a bird designed by local artist Robyn Pretorius.

  • Opening of BIRTH OF THE ALTER NATURAL
    Read Sylvester Zanoxolo Mqeku's opening address at his debut solo exhibition 'Birth of the Alter Natural' at StateoftheART on 3 December 2022. Mqeku's unique sand cast ceramic sculptures are the result of his Master dissertation research and pose questions about humankind's existence and future on Earth.
