UPCOMING EXHIBITION: HEAVEN AND EARTH

HEAVEN AND EARTH Group Exhibition Showcases the Interconnectedness of Nature and Humanity

Heaven and Earth features the work of four remarkable female artists: Laurel Holmes, Kristen McClarty, Karen Wykerd and Catherine Ocholla. This captivating exhibition will be on display from 04 to 25 November, 2023, at StateoftheART Gallery in Cape Town.

Heaven and Earth is a thought-provoking exploration of the profound and intricate relationship between the sky, land, and water. In a world marked by severe weather events and pressing environmental concerns, this exhibition of paintings and printmaking delves into the captivating beauty found in the juxtaposition of these natural elements. It raises questions about our connection to the environment, the impact of climate change, and the future of our planet.

This exhibition invites viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of nature and humanity: the sky, often viewed as a symbol of heaven, is portrayed in the artworks as a source of inspiration and hope. The ever-changing clouds serve as a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us while also alluding to the ominous shifts happening within our environment. These clouds are symbolic of our collective aspirations and the need for vigilance in preserving our planet. On the other hand, depictions of rocks symbolize the earth's presence within this dynamic relationship. These rocky formations, resembling meteors hurtling through space, challenge us to consider the trajectory we are on concerning our climate future. Heaven and Earth prompts us to reflect upon the urgency of protecting our planet and fostering a harmonious coexistence with nature. The participating artists in this exhibition each bring their unique perspective and artistic talent to the theme, encouraging visitors to ponder whether we are heading towards a more dire climate future, and sparking meaningful conversations about our role in preserving the beauty of our planet.

"We are thrilled to present Heaven and Earth at StateoftheART Gallery," said gallery owner, Jennifer Reynolds. "This exhibition offers a powerful visual journey that prompts us to consider our connection to the natural world and the urgent need for environmental awareness. The artists have created a body of work that is not only visually stunning but also intellectually engaging."

Join us at StateoftheART Gallery from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, 04 November, to celebrate the opening of Heaven And Earth,  to explore the profound beauty of our planet and engage in a meaningful dialogue about our role in safeguarding its future.

Admission to the exhibition is free, and all art enthusiasts, environmentalists, and curious minds are welcome!
