Artwork Description
A pale buck stretches across a circular orb representing the Earth, its body repeated in overlapping positions that disturb any clear sense of balance. A vertical compass line runs through the composition, yet the directional markings offer no feeling of certainty—the animal appears suspended, displaced and unable to find stable ground.
Balekane Legoabe builds the image through layers of soft transparency and grainy monochrome texture. The buck’s shifting limbs create movement around the dark orb, while the compass axis holds the composition together visually. In Compass, a familiar tool for finding direction instead emphasises the animal’s disorientation and vulnerability within an unsettled world.
