To be rooted is to belong—to a landscape, a memory, a community or a way of seeing the world. It suggests stability, but also growth: the invisible foundations from which new life and new ideas emerge.

Rooted celebrates the many ways we connect - to place, to home, to memory and to the beauty that surrounds us. Inspired by Stanford In Bloom and this year's theme, After the Fire, the exhibition reflects on renewal in its broadest sense: the resilience of nature, the power of creativity and the enduring role of art in enriching our lives.

Presented within an intimate space overlooking the Klein River and indigenous fynbos, Rooted invites visitors to experience contemporary South African art in a setting where it feels most at home. Rather than following a single style or subject, the exhibition brings together a diverse collection of paintings, ceramics, sculpture and works on paper by artists whose practices are united by originality, technical excellence and authenticity. Rooted offers something for every collector and art lover - from intimate landscapes and expressive abstraction to contemporary ceramics, portraiture and works inspired by the natural world.

Whether you're discovering your first original artwork or adding to an established collection, we hope Rooted encourages you to slow down, look closely and experience the joy of living with exceptional contemporary South African art.
